Metalwork at The 02 : Dublin

Tuesday, September 16th, 2008

We are currently in the middle of our metalwork package for “The O2″ arena or what was known as “The Point” in Dublin. We provided samples and design drawings prior to getting any work on this project and following several meetings we began the work on the 1st July last and we started the installation 2 weeks later. We are not the only Architectural Metalwork supplier on site as the complete package was split amoung 3 or 4 of us.

Galvanising metalwork ;

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

We are currently working on a site where the Client has decided to use mildsteel galvanised balustrades internally, yes, inside. Now this has created a problem in so far as when you manufacture balustrade or any metalwork piece the different members of the piece will colour differently in galvanising and the welds even though polished perfectly will swell and become exagerated and not look as pretty as expected. Anyhow in our case apparently the client is not at all happy with the finished product and rightly so but the product is perfect and admittedly so by many involved. So be aware potential clients, architects, designers when you specify a galvanised finish for internal metalwork and hope to leave it un painted it could become very costly to resolve and should possibly be avoided. Anyway my client is of the opinion that we should paint this balsutrade at no extra cost. How mad is that ?

Congratulations to Brian Cody and the lads on the big win yesterday. What a display of pure class. The Cats are amazing, and of course well done to the minors. There will be some night in Kilkenny tonight. Stapleton Engineering staff however seem to be getting the celebrations going as we speak so I do apologise to any of you are trying to contact us today. It could be a bit dodgy but we will be open and focused tomorrow if we fail today. Ya hoo !!!!!!!!!! now come on the Under 21s next week.

All Ireland Hurling Final ;

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Ah well it’s that time of year again. The Kilkenny Seniors and minors are hoping to do us all proud again. We wish them all the very best of luck. The lads here have decided to make a good weekend out of it and we will be on skeleton staff for Monday as they are going to celebrate no matter what the result is, and sure why not.

So forgive us if were will not be at our best on Monday next because the All Ireland is only once a year and of course there’s the home coming Monday night. So enjoy everyone and safe journey to all who are travelling.

Debt collecting :

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Am I the only fool trying to chase payments. It’s just one excuse after the next day after day. Trying to get final accounts sorted out are unbelievable and don’t get me started on retention. The sooner this country wakes up and takes payment of accounts seriously the better. It’s a joke. You put your heart and soul into doing a good job, stainless steel staircase, balustrades, glass handrails you name it, do it under extreme pressure and be competitive, put up with Bullsh-te on site and then be told the final acocunt will take some time. What is the problem, we do the work we would like to get paid and on time. Simple. …….. Now in fairness most of our clients are excellent but it’s getting near time to name and shame.

Ah well…….. thanks for that. I feel much better now.
